Performance and Capacity Engineer, Infrastructure Optimization

Meta is seeking a highly skilled Performance and Capacity Engineer to join our Capacity team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning and delivering capacity to Meta products and platforms. This role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal operation and growth of our computing resources from both a cost and technology perspective.
Key Responsibilities- Work with Product Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, and Data Engineering teams to find the optimal way to manage capacity and scale the infrastructure.
- Tackle state-of-the-art hardware performance issues, analyze and debug difficult server performance issues, identify bottlenecks, and optimize product/service performance to improve user experience.
- Identify capacity-related issues proactively and work with systems, network, application operations, and engineering teams to discover resolutions.
- Develop tools to monitor billions of user requests, create monitoring, reporting, data-mining tools to perform performance and capacity-related tests and analysis.
- Develop tooling and automation to optimize for capacity accounting, resource management, and infrastructure operations.
- Tackle and analyze operational issues in Meta's infrastructure.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of experience in performance or software engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in coding and scripting languages such as Python, Java, C, C++, PHP.
- Experience working with large-scale systems.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with software development practices such as source control, code reviews, unit testing, debugging, and profiling.
- MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Operations Research, or other technical field.
- Understanding of infrastructure capacity management tools and processes.
- Experience in infrastructure operations and technical infrastructure knowledge.
- Experience working on ambiguous problems and managing uncertainty.
$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits.
