Job Summary

The Clinical Coding Associate position is an entry-level role that involves participating in the institution's Coding Apprentice Program. The successful candidate will be trained in coding rules and regulations, as well as payor guidelines, and will be responsible for performing entry-level coding on less complex accounts and multi-specialty encounters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Active participation in the Coding Apprentice Program
  • Completion of all learning modules and passing of associated module exams
  • Performing entry-level coding on less complex accounts and multi-specialty encounters
  • Reviewing and assigning appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes to professional services
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • No experience required, but up to two years of healthcare-related experience is preferred
  • ICD-10 certification and completion of a coding program or certification are preferred
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or a related healthcare field
  • Strong knowledge of core subjects, including medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and pharmacology
  • Excellent computer technical skills and ability to work independently
Work Schedule

The Clinical Coding Associate will work a hybrid onsite/remote schedule, requiring onsite work a few days per week.

Training Schedule

The training schedule for this position is approximately six months onsite, with a hybrid schedule.
