Community Engagement and Public Scholarship Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Engagement and Public Scholarship Coordinator at Texas Woman's University (TWU) plays a pivotal role in fostering intellectual leadership within the TWU community. This position is integral to the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) initiative, which emphasizes the importance of graduate student engagement in enhancing community welfare through effective public communication. The coordinator will collaborate with various stakeholders, both within and outside the university, to elevate the visibility of TWU community members by securing media coverage and assisting faculty and students in showcasing their scholarly contributions. This role involves close collaboration with faculty and graduate students, providing guidance for successful placements in various media formats, including print, broadcast, and digital platforms. Additionally, the coordinator will enhance the profiles of faculty and students by advising on media interactions and online representation, including social media strategies. This is a full-time professional position with a three-year contract, subject to renewal.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
Reports to: Director, Quality Enhancement Plan
Supervises: May oversee clerical support staff, student assistants, and interns.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Formulating and executing media strategies to amplify TWU's presence.
- Coordinating initiatives for effective public exposure of TWU's academic contributions.
- Establishing and managing a dynamic YouTube channel and podcast to showcase TWU's intellectual leadership.
- Monitoring and reporting on the public impact of TWU's scholarship initiatives.
- Building and maintaining partnerships with internal and external entities to promote TWU's intellectual leadership.
- Collaborating with academic departments and centers to advocate for public scholarship.
- Developing and nurturing relationships with media organizations, publishing platforms, and potential community collaborators.
- Providing mentorship to faculty and students on effective public scholarship practices.
- Assisting in the creation and delivery of workshops aimed at enhancing digital and media literacy.
- Staying updated on best practices and innovative trends in public scholarship and social media.
- Working with the QEP team to plan and implement initiatives that advance public scholarship across various disciplines.
- May assist with fundraising efforts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field is required.
WORK REQUIREMENTS
Regular and reliable attendance at the university during scheduled work hours is essential. This position may offer flexible work arrangements, including telecommuting options.
