Position Summary:

The Principal Software Engineer plays a crucial role in leveraging technology to address intricate business challenges, spearheading the design of innovative solutions, and managing the development of cloud-native applications that support the bank's transformation and modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all facets of system architecture, development, deployment, and maintenance for cloud-native application systems within the designated area.
  • Devise technological solutions that enhance the efficiency of internal operations, resolve business challenges, and promote business opportunities.
  • Establish and refine operational processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and audit standards.
  • Utilize a collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and validate balanced systems and solutions.
  • Assess customer and operational requirements to define system performance criteria, integrate technical specifications, and ensure interface compatibility.
  • Develop resilient, scalable, and sustainable enterprise-grade applications for a vast user base.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems.
  • Independently determine methods and procedures for unique assignments.
  • Address significant and unique challenges requiring specialized skills for evaluation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
  • Implement 12-Factor Application principles in cloud-native application development.
  • Serve as a procedural and subject matter expert.
  • Stay informed on software and technical trends, seeking continuous improvement opportunities.
  • May supervise and mentor junior engineers.
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in leading the development of cloud-native enterprise applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant data structures and algorithms.
  • AWS/Azure Solution Architect Certifications (Cloud Practitioner, Developer, or Solution Architect).
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
  • Experience with domain-driven design (DDD).
  • Familiarity with 12-Factor application principles.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Working knowledge of Service Mesh technologies like Istio or Consul.
Additional Requirements:
  • Extensive hands-on experience in DevSecOps.
  • Experience with observability tools.
  • Cloud experience, preferably with AWS.
