Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sanitation Worker to join our team at Michael Foods, Inc. in Gaylord, Minnesota. As a Sanitation Worker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of our production floor, adhering to strict food safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean and sanitize all equipment, machinery, and production areas to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Follow established cleaning and sanitizing procedures to prevent contamination and ensure product quality.
  • Participate in cross-training programs to gain knowledge of all production floor areas and equipment.
  • Report any production or sanitation issues to leads or supervisors, and assist with resolving problems.
  • Fill out required HACCP paperwork and communicate maintenance needs to the maintenance team.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance, and assist with production and sanitation needs as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and Confined Space requirements.
  • Train and develop coworkers on sanitation procedures, and perform light maintenance on machines and conveyors.
  • Communicate with the Control Room on CIPs, USDA on inspections, and maintenance on equipment issues.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs & SQF requirements, and maintain sanitary conditions to ensure product quality.
  • Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.
  • Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of yearly LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) Training.
  • Successful completion of yearly Chemical Training.
  • License to drive a forklift and mule may be required.
  • Ability to learn and follow the correct cleaning procedures.
  • Ability to clean all parts and equipment and put them back together.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
