Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the front office operations, ensuring effective room merchandising and adherence to rate structures through reservations and proactive sales techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with all corporate policies and procedures regarding front office systems and controls.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with all internal departments to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Manage staffing levels effectively, adjusting schedules according to occupancy fluctuations.
  • Be knowledgeable about and able to instruct staff on all fire, life, and safety protocols.
  • Foster a culture that prioritizes profitability, guest satisfaction, and employee morale.
  • Implement and oversee guest service initiatives and VIP programs.
  • Address and resolve guest complaints and incidents, liaising with management as necessary.
  • Utilize guests' names in all interactions to enhance personalized service.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of hotel services, operational hours, and local area information.
  • Provide guests with information regarding hotel policies, services, and amenities.
  • Assist guests with inquiries about the local area, including directions and dining options.
  • Handle walk-in customer reservations and inquiries.
  • Manage reservation data entry and modifications accurately.
  • Process guest payments and manage account adjustments as needed.
  • Communicate room status and availability to the housekeeping team.
  • Listen attentively to guest requests and complaints, responding appropriately.
  • Operate the hotel switchboard efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization at the front desk area.
  • Keep daily logs and balance cash drawers at the end of shifts.

Qualifications:

1-2 years of experience in front desk operations at a select-service hotel is preferred. Previous experience in a supervisory role within the front office is also advantageous.

Language Proficiency: Candidates must possess the ability to read and comprehend instructions, write professional correspondence, and effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group settings.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in OnQ PMS, Opera, or Fosse systems is required, along with strong skills in Word and Excel. The ability to coach and train staff is essential.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certification from IHG is a plus, and knowledge of Opera PMS is mandatory.
