Job Summary

As a Resident Services Ministry Staff member at Star of Hope, you will play a vital role in ensuring the physical safety, security, and welfare of all facility residents. You will be responsible for monitoring residents' compliance with rules, policies, and procedures, and reporting any unsafe activities or conditions to management. Additionally, you will oversee the cleanliness and smooth operations of the facility, manage emergency responses, and provide crisis intervention and support to residents using Biblical principles.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Monitor residents' compliance with rules, policies, and procedures, and report any unsafe activities or conditions to management.
  2. Oversee the cleanliness and smooth operations of the facility, including monitoring Chore/Work Therapy assignments.
  3. Manage emergency responses, provide crisis intervention and support to residents using Biblical principles, and facilitate conflict resolution between residents.
  4. Assist residents with daily needs, such as mail, toiletries, and over-the-counter medications.
  5. Promote good relations between residents and staff by maintaining an atmosphere of cooperation, service to others, and a balance of 'grace and truth' consistent with the Star of Hope mission statement.
  6. Assist the Resident Services Senior Lead Coordinator in completing and maintaining all necessary rosters, logs, folders, and reports to ensure the smooth operation of the Resident Services department.
  7. Communicate, support, and work with other departments to ensure the integrity of care for all residents, including referring residents with specific needs to Program Staff, Spiritual Life Coordinators, Children's/Youth staff, and Management.
  8. Provide advice, admonition, and encouragement from a Biblical perspective when interacting with residents.
  9. Complete necessary follow-ups involved in documenting each crisis (Significant Events Reports).
Other Job Responsibilities
  1. Participate in Ministry and prayer activities, as appropriate.
  2. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require a High School Diploma or GED, with a preferred 2 years of college or Associate's Degree in Social Services or related work experience. Knowledge of and experience with substance abuse issues, mental health conditions, and homelessness are also preferred. You will need to possess strong communication skills, be able to work respectfully and professionally with everyone, and maintain required residents/staff boundaries. Additionally, you will need to be able to support the Star of Hope Christ-centered Mission statement, Faith Statement, and core values of integrity, excellence, and commitment to life change.

Work Environment

The work environment encompasses the entire facility, with business hours including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift to meet the business needs of the mission. Occasional visits to program sites may be required, and you will be exposed to infectious diseases, poor hygiene, drug usage, verbal and physical abuse, and other emergency situations relative to the homeless population.

Relations with Others

You will have frequent face-to-face discussions with individuals, immediate peers, immediate manager, and direct reports, as well as frequent use of electronic mail, frequent contact with residents and volunteers, and occasional telephone conversations and written letters and memos.

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of this role include medium work with lifting of up to 30 pounds, constant standing, talking, hearing, field of vision, and depth perception, as well as frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, use of fingers, repetitive motions, handling, and color vision.
