Job Description

Western Digital is seeking a highly skilled Senior System SSD Architecture Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our System Architecture team, you will be responsible for working cross-functionally to deliver current and next-generation performance, endurance, and value-add SSD features.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including ASIC, Firmware, Hardware, System Design, Quality, Reliability, and Marketing, to drive innovation and deliver high-quality SSD products.
  • Develop and improve modeling infrastructure utilized in architectural tradeoff analyses to ensure accurate and efficient evaluation of SSD performance, power, and endurance.
  • Work closely with an excellent team of engineers to cope with complex challenges, innovate, and develop products that will be sold in millions of units.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate creative problem-solving skills and tradeoff analyses, adapting approach as needed for each engagement.
  • Possess excellent written and oral presentation skills, with the ability to engage, inspire, build credibility, and engender trust across an organization.
  • Ability to work as part of a global team in multiple geographies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software/Computer/Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience in RT/embedded systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience in building firmware for Solid State Drives.
  • Experience with scripting automation using Python.
  • Capable of developing a wide system view for complex embedded systems.
  • Multi-disciplinary experience, including familiarity with Firmware and ASIC design.
  • Previous patent filing – advantage.
  • Previous scientific publications – advantage.
  • Previous experience with storage systems, protocols, and NAND flash – strong advantage.
