Geotechnical Engineer Job Description

At Insight Global, we are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Springfield, MO. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in coordinating project expectations and specifications with Geologists, preparing project scopes and proposals, and reviewing reports for accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage geotechnical engineering projects from start to finish, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Prepare proposals, contracts, and project documentation in collaboration with the project team.
  • Analyze geotechnical engineering boring logs and other data to assess subsurface conditions and provide recommendations for foundation design, slope stability, and earthwork.
  • Conduct geotechnical calculations using industry-standard software and engineering principles to determine soil and rock properties, bearing capacities, settlement analyses, and other geotechnical parameters.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports summarizing geotechnical findings, assessments, and recommendations for clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee drilling equipment operations and geotechnical laboratory testing to ensure accurate data collection and analysis.
  • Perform field logging, inspections, and investigations to evaluate site conditions, conduct soil and rock sampling, and assess construction activities.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Drilling Manager to coordinate field drilling activities and provide technical guidance as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Testing Manager for geotechnical projects that transition into the construction phase, ensuring compliance with geotechnical specifications and requirements.
  • Participate in activities requiring the application of geotechnical engineering principles and techniques, providing technical support and expertise to the project team.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
  • 4-10+ years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and physical examination.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed and perform heavy lifting, if required to assist with geotechnical drilling.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PE or in the process of obtaining licensure.
