Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Early Childhood Education Assistant to join our team at Northern Arizona Council of Governments. As an Early Childhood Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Teacher in planning and implementing activities in the classroom, maintaining a safe environment for children, and adhering to all standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom Support: Assist the Teacher with planning and implementing activities, monitoring and documenting classroom activities, and performing transitions from one activity to the next.
  • Lesson Planning: Assist with preparation of lesson plans and applicable data entry.
  • Child Care: Assist with providing meals, clean up, and toothbrushing.
  • Recruitment: Actively participate in the recruitment of eligible children and families.
  • Parent Engagement: Assist with parent teaching and home visits.
  • Administrative Tasks: Perform data entry and filing tasks, and attend and participate in various meetings.
  • Safety and Security: Perform safety checks in the classroom to ensure classroom safety, greet incoming families, and perform health checks.
Requirements
  • Education: Level I: Entry level, must meet the requirements of the job descriptions, and one year of experience working with preschool children.
  • Credentials: Level II: Basic requirements and Childhood Development Associate Credential (CDA) that is age appropriate to the children being served in the center-based programs; or a state-awarded certificate for preschool teachers that meets or exceeds the requirement for a CDA, and one year of experience working with preschool children.
Working Conditions

Regular exposure to potential physical harm, hazardous chemicals, and infectious disease. Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.
