We are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Vice President, Surety Underwriter to join our team at Sompo International Holdings Ltd. As a key member of our Surety Underwriting team, you will be responsible for underwriting risks in a book of contract business, developing and nurturing agency and broker relationships, and driving business growth.
Key Responsibilities:- Underwrite risks in accordance with guidelines and standards, utilizing rating methodology and predictive modeling tools to price risk based on financial and competitive analysis.
- Manage assigned portfolio to achieve gross written premium, profitability, rate, retention, product mix, new business, and portfolio management goals.
- Develop and implement distributor-specific plans, monitor performance, and adjust plans to ensure a substantial pipeline for future profitable growth.
- Build and grow a profitable book of business and pipeline for future business, uncovering customer needs, positioning specific solutions, handling objections, and closing deals.
- Strong knowledge of surety underwriting, techniques, national/local filing regulations, and guidelines.
- Knowledge of underwriting processes, coverages, and tools to gather and evaluate information in order to reach appropriate decisions on renewals and new business.
- Demonstrated ability to build and grow a profitable book of business and pipeline for future business.
- Ability to uncover customer needs, position specific solutions, handle objections, and close deals.
- Competitive compensation and benefit programs, including a pay-for-performance culture, resulting in higher incentive awards when the Company does well and lower incentive awards when the Company underperforms.
