Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Truman Medical Centers. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing complex tests on blood and body fluids to provide critical information for diagnosing and combating disease.

Responsibilities
  • Perform high-complexity tests on blood and body fluids
  • Work independently with moderate supervision from a Medical Laboratory Scientist Supervisor or the Director of Laboratory Operations
  • Provide mentoring, orientation, and guidance to Registered Medical Laboratory Scientists
  • May be assigned to work in a specialized section within the department
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science
  • ASCP (or equivalent) certification in two or more general areas of the laboratory
  • Or, Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science and completion of an AMA-approved laboratory training program and eligible for ASCP certification
  • Or, completion of an approved government training program and eligible for ASCP certification
