Key ResponsibilitiesThe Business Construction Technician will be responsible for managing construction operations at designated sites and supervising field contractors. The role involves:
- Preparing and handling Loose Tube, Mid-Sheath, and Splitting Ribbon Buffer Tube fiber optic cables.
- Executing fiber optic splicing tasks, including customer and company termination panels.
- Utilizing Optical Time Domain Reflector meters for fiber testing and conducting visual fault assessments.
- Completing building service entrances.
- Engaging in aerial telecommunications construction and developing aerial network fiber (FTTX).
- Interpreting work orders, specifications, and engineering blueprints.
- Documenting fiber installations and understanding related maps and splice documentation.
- Performing construction tasks such as digging, climbing poles, and laying cables.
- Facilitating sales opportunities by aligning construction efforts with company performance metrics.
- Conducting route inspections to assess pole lines and buried routes.
- Contributing to operational standards by providing construction insights for strategic planning.
- Operating power equipment and ensuring safety compliance on-site.
- Responding to emergency situations requiring construction expertise.
- Ensuring public safety and adherence to regulatory requirements during all work activities.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel as needed.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in equipment installation, cable splicing, or related fields.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Flexibility to accommodate after-hours work as necessary.
- A valid Iowa Driver's License with a clean driving record.
