Aviation Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Aviation Maintenance Technician to join our team at the State of Vermont. As a key member of our transportation maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our airports and transportation systems.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct daily inspections and annual 5010 inspections to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations
- Monitor airport activity and address or notify others to address unsafe operations
- Issue Notices to Air Missions (NOTAMs) as required
- Be available for snow removal operations at airports and operate heavy equipment year-round
- Maintain safety areas and surrounding vegetation to FAA-specified heights
- Complete line striping, pavement patching, crack sealing, ditching, grading, sweeping, and repairing shoulders, fences, and removing debris
- Ensure VT stormwater systems are in compliance
- Respond to airport emergencies, including working weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Provide general information and aid to users and the general public
- Monitor weather radar, read aviation weather forecasts, and answer inquiries via radio or in person from pilots
- Ensure compliance with hazardous materials, including documentation of receipt, proper storage, handling, and current MSDS sheets
- Four (4) years or more of transportation maintenance or construction experience, including experience operating a snowplow and experience in aviation or airport maintenance
- OR Two (2) years as an Airport Maintenance Worker II
- Complete Vermont State Aeronautics Training program within the first 6 months of employment
- Live within reasonable proximity of assigned workstation
