Job Overview:

The Environmental Services Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all assigned areas within the Medical Center are maintained in a clean, sanitary, and orderly manner. This role is crucial in supporting the overall health and safety of patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Exhibit strong judgment and organizational skills while performing cleaning tasks throughout various units.
  • Maintain and manage cleaning equipment, carts, and storage areas on a daily basis.
  • Perform thorough cleaning and servicing of patient rooms, offices, restrooms, conference rooms, lounges, examination rooms, and utility areas.
  • Conduct trash removal, vacuuming, mopping, and dusting of all surfaces including furniture, walls, and fixtures.
  • Ensure all paper products and soap dispensers are replenished regularly.
  • Possess knowledge of environmental cleaning agents and their proper usage as per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Report any incidents, safety concerns, or significant personnel issues to the supervisor immediately.
  • Responsible for the cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms post-discharge and isolation rooms as per infection control protocols.
  • Clean operating rooms between surgical cases and perform terminal cleaning at the end of the day.
  • Manage waste disposal, including regulated waste and cardboard removal.
  • Handle the removal and installation of cubicle curtains as needed.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in accepting various assignments and show initiative in all tasks.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, maneuver cleaning carts weighing up to 100 pounds, and perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and continuous movement throughout a 7.5-hour shift. Effective communication skills are essential.

Qualifications:

A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred. Previous experience in environmental services within a healthcare setting is advantageous.

Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is between $21.57 and $23.77 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of potential compensation and may be adjusted based on various factors including location, experience, and internal equity.
