Position: Principal Engineer - Transmission
Location: Remote
Contract Duration: 1+ year contract

Project Overview:
This role collaborates closely with the Early Stage Project Manager to outline and influence project requirements and scope in conjunction with the Transmission Development Group. Projects may originate as FERC 1000 competitive transmission project proposals or as greenfield initiatives for NEET affiliates. The selected candidate will oversee Engineering Oversight Reviews (EOR's), assist in developing narrative and commercial strategies alongside Early Stage Project Managers, NEET Development, and other key stakeholders. A solid understanding of ISO requirements, emerging challenges (such as wildfire mitigation strategies), and forthcoming competitive opportunities is essential. Experience with competitive RFPs in the transmission sector and familiarity with HV or EHV transmission line design and execution is highly desirable. Additionally, experience in commercial and contract negotiations will be advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years in transmission line design
  • Experience with voltages of 115kV and above (230kV, 345kV, 500kV, 765kV)
  • FERC Order 1000 / Competitive RFP experience
  • HVDC transmission line design experience
  • Experience in 765kV transmission line design
  • Commercial and contract negotiation skills
  • Familiarity with ISO requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
