ROLE SUMMARY
As a key member of the Finance Business Partner team for Global Technology, the Senior Finance Manager will act as the primary financial liaison for designated Delivery leaders within Marriott's Global Technology division. This position is responsible for delivering a comprehensive financial perspective on performance across various initiatives and ongoing operational expenses pertinent to the services and applications relevant to the supported GT leaders.
The Senior Finance Manager will collaborate with and assist selected stakeholders, including other finance teams and GT leaders across Product, Delivery, and various disciplines. This role entails evaluating financial aspects of GT projects, business cases, programs, and initiatives, as well as overseeing the financial health of the assigned service and application portfolios.
Success in this role requires the ability to leverage diverse information sources, identify lucrative opportunities, foresee challenges, and develop innovative strategies to meet current and future business objectives while engaging with senior leadership to enhance Marriott's competitive edge through superior financial management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with GT Delivery leaders to oversee the financial performance of Marriott's GT portfolio, including strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, cost allocations, procurement, financial reporting, and analysis.
- Monitor the balance sheet for program and service recovery activities and other potential financial risks, escalating issues as necessary.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of analytical tools for forecasts and budgets, providing recommendations to optimize performance and drive profitability.
- Conduct return on investment analyses to support GT initiatives, ensuring appropriate financial strategies and resources are utilized. This analysis includes gathering and synthesizing current data, modeling future proposals, and developing presentations that compare data, highlight risks, and address both qualitative and quantitative concerns.
- Understand business needs and the long-term implications of project decisions to identify potential risks for management review.
- Generate general ledger reports, queries, and project cost analyses to effectively monitor and evaluate project costs for the assigned portfolio, utilizing cost monitoring tools and reporting processes. Ensure early identification of potential issues and communicate with project management leaders or escalate to higher management as appropriate.
- Lead finance-related activities for the development and implementation of new programs, services, and initiatives, including creating moderately complex activity-based cost models and recovery analyses that comply with management and franchise agreements.
- Engage with relevant Global Finance groups to operationalize new programs, services, and initiatives.
- Guide efforts to determine funding strategies and recommendations that align with management and franchise agreements.
- Support the creation of recommendations and presentations for Program & Services Agreement Compliance Advisory Committee approval.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Essential Skills and Experience
- At least 6 years of relevant experience in complex data analysis and financial modeling.
- Strong analytical capabilities with a solid grasp of corporate finance concepts.
- Proficient in spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software.
- Ability to organize and interpret intricate financial data and present analytical findings effectively to senior management.
- Solid accounting skills, particularly in financial statement analysis.
- Familiarity with management and franchise contracts.
- Capability to manage multiple projects and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills to facilitate timely information flow throughout the organization.
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required.
- An MBA with a concentration in Finance or Accounting is preferred.
