Job Summary

As a Physician Assistant in our Trauma Surgery department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform health histories, physical exams, and individual and group health education.
  • Order diagnostic laboratory tests and radiological tests, including special testing such as CTs, MRIs, ultrasound, and contrast studies with physician approval.
  • Interpret physical findings, lab and x-ray results, make diagnoses, and formulate and carry out treatment plans, prescribing medication in accordance with state licensing laws.
  • Refer cases to immediate supervising physicians when patient conditions are complicated, exceed the Physician Assistant's limit of care or level of training.
  • Provide emergency care to prevent the loss of life, limb, or eyesight, and institute emergency procedures in accordance with level of training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Physician Assistant program approved by an accredited medical body.
  • 2 years of APC experience in the Emergency Department.
  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants.
  • South Carolina Controlled Substance license.
  • Federal DEA License and Prescriptive Authority for South Carolina.
