Assistant Molding Supervisor

The Assistant Molding Manager is a key member of the Polytainers team, responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the molding department. This role requires a strong leader who can positively influence adherence to best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Plant and Machine Safety: Collaborate with Shift Supervisors to ensure all team members are trained and performing in a safe and efficient manner. Conduct regular audits to identify and eliminate hazards, and work with the Health and Safety Specialist to investigate and document accidents/incidents.
- Performance Improvement: Support the development and implementation of procedures and Standard Work to improve production efficiency and quality. Communicate with the Molding Manager and Shift Supervisors to address performance concerns and implement corrective actions.
- Quality and Compliance: Regularly audit the shop floor to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Work with the Shift Supervisors to establish and follow up on corrective actions when performance is off target. Maintain a routine of regular auditing and follow up with Shift Supervisors and Team Members to close the loop on any practices that undermine sound SQF practices.
- Reporting and Communication: Attend and actively participate in daily Molding Production Meetings. Participate in the daily quality meeting. Ensure regular and full communications sessions take place between the Shift Supervisors and by the Shift Supervisors on their shift, including completion and follow up on items listed on the 'Molding Open Issues Board'. Conduct presentations to the Molding team as needed to encourage the flow of knowledge, information, and full communication in support of Molding objectives and actions.
- Learning and Continuous Improvement: Work with relevant stakeholders to establish and maintain training materials and set up a process for continuous learning and professional development for the Molding Team Members. Demonstrate leadership and support by meaningful participation in specific CI projects and Kaizens, and promote a continuous improvement culture by communicating, encouraging, and supporting actions identified to improve processes or procedures on the Molding production floor.
- Education: Undergraduate degree or diploma in the injection molding, plastics, or mechanical field is a definite asset.
- Experience: 10 years of progressive leadership in a fast-paced, high-volume Lean Manufacturing environment with 3-5 years in a technical leadership role.
- Computer Skills: Good PC skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Additional Certificates/Diplomas: Physical Requirements: This job requires both office and plant exposure with considerable time spent on shop floor exposed to a noisy environment.
- Communication Skills: A skilled influencer with strong ability to positively impact desired behaviors. Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills.
