Tax Provision Manager

The Tax Provision Manager will play a crucial role in enhancing the performance of the Tax department by leveraging tax technology and implementing process enhancements. This position serves as the key point of contact between the Tax department and Financial Reporting, significantly contributing to the department's adoption of tax provision software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the deployment of tax provision software solutions with support from external consultants.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly tax provisions.
- Compile income tax work-papers, including the calculation of book-to-tax adjustments, depreciation, and apportionment.
- Prepare and/or review federal and state income tax returns.
- Oversee the daily management of tax data.
- Ensure the ongoing maintenance of tax software tools and processes.
- Translate tax requirements into ERP and software system specifications; collaborate with internal teams and developers to implement, test, and deliver solutions.
- Manage the tax department's integration with core financial systems.
- Develop process documentation and drive continuous process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Tax, Finance, Accounting, or General Business; a Master's degree is preferred.
- CPA certification is preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in public accounting and/or private industry with a focus on tax.
- Familiarity with Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Income Tax compliance software or similar tools.
- Proficient in utilizing technology to enhance the effectiveness of tax functions.
- Experience with corporate taxation, consolidations, and partnerships is preferred.
- Strong background in income tax provision.
- Experience with ERP systems, including SAP or similar platforms.
- Background in process design and/or improvement is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and proactively seek solutions or suggest improvements.
- Strong leadership, project management, organizational, and time management skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent conceptual and critical thinking abilities, with a knack for innovative problem-solving.
- A keen interest in technology and its application in business processes.
- Willingness to challenge the status quo.
- Self-motivated, business-savvy, and a collaborative team player.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Outstanding communication and business writing skills.
- Capability to explain complex tax issues to non-tax professionals.
- Ability to engage with professionals at all organizational levels.
