The Cardiac Catheterization Radiologic Technologist II is a proficient and skilled professional with extensive training and expertise in cardiovascular procedures relevant to the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for assisting physicians in performing intricate interventional and therapeutic radiologic procedures, including but not limited to:
- Peripheral and coronary angioplasty
- Stenting
- Rotablators
- Atherectomy
- Laser treatments
- Coronary ultrasound
- Electrophysiology procedures such as ablations and device implantation.
A vital member of the direct patient care team, this role involves actively participating in Cath Lab cases, aiding in the movement and alignment of equipment, and managing radiation control throughout procedures.
Mentorship:
Serves as a mentor to Cath Lab Rad Tech I's, Cath Lab RN's, and students, leveraging skills and knowledge to train and educate others.
Independent Practice:
Operates autonomously, demonstrating sound judgment and advanced clinical skills in challenging diagnostic procedures and patient care scenarios.
Patient Care:
Delivers exceptional patient care while adhering to radiation safety standards and guidelines established by radiology agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and satisfaction.
Collaboration:
Promotes a positive work environment and collaborates with all members of the patient care team by effectively communicating and reporting essential patient care information in a comprehensive manner.
Technical Proficiency:
Performs interventional and therapeutic radiologic procedures, including:
- Fluoroscopy and cine modalities
- Recommending various radiological techniques to enhance visualization of the patient's cardiac anatomy.
Quality and Safety:
Adheres to radiation safety standards, ensuring proper patient protection and compliance with infection control procedures. Maintains sterile techniques and conducts regular quality control checks on imaging equipment.
Documentation:
Ensures accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures and enters charges at the time of service delivery.
Professional Development:
Engages in departmental projects and shared governance activities, contributing to the growth and innovation within the department.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited education program for the required credentials
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist
- Required certifications: ARRT-R, CMRT, BLS, ACLS.
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrates the necessary skills and competencies to safely perform assigned duties, possesses basic computer knowledge, and exhibits strong interpersonal skills. Adapts to multiple priorities with minimal supervision and effectively communicates with patients and healthcare team members.
Work Environment:
Uniform scrubs are required, and on-call availability may be necessary during emergencies.
