Responsibilities
The Operating Room Specialist plays a crucial role in the surgical environment, ensuring the seamless operation of the surgical suite. This position involves collaboration with surgeons, circulating nurses, and anesthesia staff throughout all phases of surgical procedures. Key responsibilities include:
- Setting up and maintaining the sterile field with the necessary instruments and equipment for each surgical procedure.
- Facilitating the efficient flow of the surgical schedule and maintaining a well-organized operating room.
- Providing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of registered nurses.
- Ensuring the confidentiality of all information within the surgical department.
- Assisting in the preparation and organization of surgical supplies and equipment.
- Recognizing and communicating any patient concerns to the nursing staff or physicians during procedures.
- Cleaning and disinfecting surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with established standards and protocols.
- Maintaining inventory and tracking the location of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Performing additional duties as assigned to support the surgical team.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Completion of an accredited surgical technician program.
Required Licensure and Certifications:
- BLS-CPR certification within five days of employment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training:
- A minimum of one year of experience in an operating room, endoscopy, or hospital setting.
Compensation:
