Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Project Director to provide management responsibilities for various client programs and projects for a Federal Client in the DC Metro Area.

This full-time role will be responsible for working with the Contract/Project Executive in directing, managing, and monitoring the team to resolve challenges to meet client expectations.

The role will work onsite closely with the client and team on a day-to-day basis to proactively meet the client's needs.

This position is contingent on a future client win and client approval.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Management: Responsible for managing, coordinating, and administering a group of projects or one major project from conceptual stages through all phases of the projects, with the assistance of the project team.
  • Team Performance: Responsible for overall performance of the project team and takes the lead in reporting and ensuring project completion within budget, schedule, and in conformance with specifications.
  • Contract Review: Reviews contracts, scope documents, and available data for the project, and establishes schedules and budgets for compliance with project scope requirements and contract obligations.
  • Leadership: Takes leadership initiative in working with internal team members, and client departments including cost/scheduling, procurement, quality assurance, construction, contracts, legal, labor relations, finance, accounting, and other services and departments as required to successfully manage projects.
  • Project Coordination: Provides an integrated project team approach in working with designers, contractors, and governing agencies.
  • Change Order Management: Reviews and comments on design submissions, change orders, and contracts/sub-contracts, and represent the client interests to ensure control of and validate change orders are current, fair, and efficiently processed.
  • Risk Management: Responsible to proactively monitor critical project milestone dependencies, and track actions which may result in risks to critical project milestones.
  • Performance Monitoring: Reviews project key performance indicators and forecasts any modifications to schedules, cost estimates, and financial reports, and effectively reconciles risks to commitments that may exceed assigned schedules and budgets.
  • Communication: Coordinates communications, stakeholder contacts, and maintains good working relationships.
  • Contract Compliance: Monitors and controls contractual commitments to assure work being performed is in accordance with the specifications and terms of the contracts.
  • Quality Control: Reviews builder submittals and RFI documents, and provides field surveillance to ensure specified quality of design.
  • Project Coordination: Conducts project coordination and client meetings as necessary to review progress and discuss upcoming work.
  • Conflict Resolution: Works with stakeholders to negotiate and resolve conflicts, disputes, and potential claims on behalf of the client.
  • Team Leadership: Responsible for leading a construction management team to deliver capital construction projects for US Federal Government clients.
  • Project Execution: Development of the Project Execution Plan.
  • Project Coordination: Management and coordination of Project Managers, Project Controls Team, and Construction personnel.
  • Asset Handover: Coordination of design work with the Design Manager. Project to Asset Handover.
