Summary:
The Campus Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a secure and safe educational environment for all students and staff by supervising activities and addressing safety issues. This role is vital in protecting and securing all district property at the school level.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee campus activities and events; enforce all campus and district regulations.
  2. Assess campus facilities and grounds to ensure that only authorized individuals are present and that students do not leave without permission.
  3. Foster positive relationships with students and staff to promote a supportive campus atmosphere.
  4. Guide disruptive students to administrative offices and supervise those awaiting intervention, effectively de-escalating conflicts.
  5. Communicate campus activities to relevant safety personnel.
  6. Assist safety teams at other district locations as required.
  7. Participate in mandatory training programs as outlined by the district.
  8. Promote a positive relationship between the district and the community by demonstrating professionalism and courtesy in all interactions; maintain confidentiality regarding work-related matters and adhere to governing policies.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent; previous experience in security or a related field is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must be at least 21 years of age.

Licenses and Certifications:
A valid driver's license is required. Candidates must possess a current first aid and CPR certification at the time of employment or obtain it within the first 60 days. A valid fingerprint clearance card must be obtained within 90 days of employment.

  • Ability to enforce safety policies and procedures effectively.
  • Capability to safely de-escalate physical confrontations.
  • Skill in identifying safety hazards and suspicious individuals on campus.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Initiative within organizational guidelines.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work is conducted across school campuses and may involve exposure to various weather conditions. The role may entail potential physical risks, exposure to illnesses, and bodily fluids. Physical capability to perform all essential functions is required.
