Position SummaryThe House Supervisor acts as a representative of patient care and hospital administration during all shifts. This position is crucial in maintaining the quality of patient care and fulfilling the objectives of St. Croix Health. The House Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all hospital departments and personnel during off shifts and weekends in the absence of direct line managers. This role serves as an advocate for patient care, staff, and the hospital as a whole, ensuring that high-quality patient care services are delivered in alignment with the mission, vision, values, policies, and regulations of St. Croix Health.
Key Responsibilities- Serve competently in the Emergency Department Nurse Staff Role.
- Act as a liaison among patient care units, support departments, and organizational leadership to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
- Support the operational goals of patient care departments by managing staffing effectively during off shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Collaborate with various disciplines, providers, and patients' families to achieve defined patient care objectives.
- Provide oversight for nursing care practices to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
- Assist with transitions of care to maintain uninterrupted quality of service.
- Evaluate the complexities and volumes of nursing care required and adjust staffing resources accordingly.
- Address emergent needs in any department during off shifts and weekends.
- Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives and risk management activities.
- Respond to emergencies as a key member of the emergency response team.
Education & Licensure:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Current RN license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required upon hire.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within six months of hire.
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within six months of hire.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification required within six months of hire.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in an acute care setting.
- 2 years of experience in the Emergency Department preferred.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Commitment to quality and adherence to standards and policies.
- Professional demeanor and ability to foster a collaborative environment.
- In-depth knowledge of nursing practices and hospital operations.
- Ability to plan, organize, and communicate effectively.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
