Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Histology Technologist to join our team at The MetroHealth System. As a key member of our Anatomic Pathology laboratory, you will be responsible for performing a variety of procedures with technical supervision, ensuring adherence to departmental guidelines, safety and regulatory requirements, and quality control standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Anatomic Pathology laboratory procedures of various complexities with technical supervision.
  • Ensure all procedures and protocols adhere to departmental guidelines, safety and regulatory requirements, and quality control standards.
  • Coordinate with a diverse group of people and skill levels in performing daily operational tasks.
  • Uphold the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Requirements
  • Registered Histology Technician (HT) or Histology Technologist (HTL) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or proof of eligibility for registration.
  • Education or education combined with experience in one of the following combinations: Associate of Science degree in an Applied Science or equivalent, or HS Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam with past experience performing tissue handling and dissecting/grossing.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Preferred: Experience with electronic equipment and computer systems, Bachelor of Science degree.
Physical Requirements

May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
