Job Title: Histology Technologist

Lighthouse Lab Services is seeking a skilled Histology Technologist to join their dynamic team in Mayfield Heights, OH. As a Histology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing various tasks required for receiving, processing, and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination and analysis by the Pathologist.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Exercises independent judgment in dealing with procedural and technical problems.
  • Examines slides and/or blocks to ensure tissue preparation is meeting laboratory requirements.
  • Provides our clients with the most efficient, cost-effective, and timely turn-around possible.
  • Accessions the specimen using our LIS system, verifying that the specimen containers, requisitions, and part types all match before accessioning.
  • Uses proper grossing techniques when dissecting specimens.
  • Properly embeds tissue.
  • Slide quality is a high priority.
  • Daily cleans and maintains laboratory equipment.
  • Assists pathologist and other lab personnel.
  • Keeps current with changes in laboratory procedures.
  • Operates, cleans, and sterilizes laboratory glassware, instruments, and workstation.
  • Performs special stains and Immunohistochemistry using approved protocols and controls.
  • Files, retrieves, and distributes blocks, slides, and pathology reports.
  • Answers phones in a professional and helpful manner.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  • Complies with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as company and departmental rules, polices, and procedural manuals.
  • Adherence to CAP, CLIA, State Regulations, HIPAA, Safety and OSHA Regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a NAACLS accredited histotechnology program or an Associate degree plus one year full time experience in histopathology within the last three years under the supervision of a pathologist.
  • Required ASCP certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL).
