Job Description

The VT Achievement Center Early Education and Care Program seeks a dedicated and experienced Early Childhood Educator to join our team. As a key member of our educational team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a cohesive teaching plan, coordinating curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom.

Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of child development and be skilled in communicating with both children and adults. You will be responsible for creating a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed.

The successful candidate will have excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, forms, and files, as well as ensuring all center policies and state regulations are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a cohesive teaching plan, coordinating curriculum and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom.
  • Create a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed.
  • Communicate effectively with children, adults, and parents, ensuring the needs of the children are met.
  • Maintain accurate records, forms, and files, as well as ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
  • Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers, ensuring they are following planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards.

Requirements:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
  • A strong understanding of child development.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must clear full background check.
  • Required education is as follows: at least a Level III on the VT Early Childhood Career Ladder; or a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Early Childhood, Child or Human Development, Elementary Education or Child and Family Services and 12 months experience; or Certificate of Completion from the Apprenticeship Program; or Child Care Certificate from CCV and 12 months experience; or successful completion of 21 college credits with early childhood or school age focus and 12 months experience.
