This role requires a proactive individual who can handle sensitive information with discretion and communicate effectively with staff regarding their compensation and benefits. The ideal candidate is someone who can bring energy and expertise to the HR team while helping to optimize compensation and benefits programs.
The estimated salary for this position in NW Washington, DC is $80-85k per year or $32-35/hr. This contract-to-hire, onsite role offers a comprehensive benefits package and opportunity for professional growth in a collaborative and mission-driven work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid leave.
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, ADA, ACA, COBRA, and other regulations.
- Maintain relationships with benefits brokers to optimize offerings and control costs.
- Communicate benefits information to staff clearly and concisely.
- Process monthly bills and manage claims payments accurately.
- Review bi-weekly payroll to ensure benefits deductions are correct.
- Coordinate FMLA leaves and manage related documentation.
- Analyze benefits data and update the employee handbook to improve efficiency.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of HR experience, with a focus on benefits and compensation.
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems like Ceridian, Paycom, or ADP.
- Strong knowledge of compensation and benefits regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong interpersonal skills, judgment, and a positive attitude.
