Structural Engineering Project Specialist

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Possesses a foundational understanding of the contract, bidding assumptions, project plans, specifications, Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), subcontracts, and purchase orders.
Facilitates and participates in team meetings, ensuring that critical agenda items are addressed.
Interprets and utilizes the project schedule to assess extensions or accelerations due to factors such as weather impacts, change orders, and delays.
Accountable for all necessary contractual documentation, including incoming and outgoing correspondence, daily reports, weekly progress updates, drawings, submittals, subcontracts, purchase orders, payment requests, and invoices.
Must understand the contract payment terms, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of payment applications and follow-ups for prompt payment and retention release.
Responsible for reviewing, inputting, and monitoring job quantities essential for cost accounting systems and payment applications.
Must coordinate and schedule submittal data promptly, which may include shop drawings, photographs, material certificates, test reports, and product data.
Advises the Project Team of any potential contract changes and promptly notifies the owner in writing as directed.
Assists the Project Team in coordinating with relevant public utility companies to secure necessary permits ahead of work commencement.
Contributes to the development of the Site Logistics Plan prior to the start of work.
Capable of performing minor drafting and editing of plans (such as As-Builts and Temporary Traffic Control Plans) as directed by a supervisor, demonstrating a willingness and capacity to learn.
Develops work plans to assist the Project Team in ensuring safe and efficient use of equipment and personnel (e.g., planning critical lifts with cranes, platforms, and demolition).
Ensures a safe working environment in compliance with all federal, state, local, and company safety policies and procedures, utilizing appropriate tools and equipment for each task.
Maximizes the utilization of company resources by being aware of the tools, equipment, and manpower charged to the project and reallocating resources when they are not needed.
Understands both legal requirements and company policy requirements essential for effective Construction Engineering operations, including:
Learning, understanding, and maintaining knowledge of current laws, contract requirements, and Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality standards.
Complying with such laws and policies by properly:
Protecting the project, adjacent properties, and endangered species
Disposing of waste materials appropriately
Obtaining necessary permits (e.g., stormwater control, demolition) before commencing work.
Notifying utility owners
Documenting and responding to any environmental incidents
Performs all other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Structural, Mechanical, or Civil disciplines, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
2. Minimum of one year of experience at the Junior Construction Engineer level preferred.
3. Valid driver's license with a favorable traffic record.
4. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Email, with an aptitude for learning relevant systems.
5. Mathematical aptitude for daily tasks.
6. Ability to read and comprehend contract documents, job specifications, blueprints, and other technical or legal information.
7. Ability to work independently and ensure timely completion of tasks.
8. Excellent organizational, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
