Speech Language Pathologist Assistant

As a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant, you'll work under the direct supervision of a certified Speech Language Pathologist to provide therapeutic and educational services to students with communication disorders.
Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the SLP to assess students' speech and language abilities using diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Assist in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with communication disorders.
- Provide direct therapy services to students, both individually and in groups, using evidence-based techniques and strategies.
- Support students in improving their articulation, phonological awareness, fluency, voice, and language skills through targeted exercises and activities.
- Facilitate communication and social interaction skills for students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders or social communication disorders.
- Assist students with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems to enhance their ability to express themselves.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure carry-over of therapy goals across academic settings.
- Document and maintain accurate records of student progress, including therapy sessions, assessments, and treatment plans.
- Assist in preparing and selecting therapy materials, resources, and technology tools to enhance service delivery.
- Follow required ethical and professional guidelines outlined by ASHA, state licensing boards, and school policies.
- Associate's degree in Speech Language Pathology Assistant program or equivalent, or Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
- State licensure or certification as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant, as required by the state or district.
- Prior experience working with children or students in a school or clinical setting is preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of various speech and language disorders and their associated therapy techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet the needs of a diverse caseload.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with various software programs used for documentation and data tracking.
- A compassionate and patient demeanor with the ability to motivate and engage students.
- Willingness to stay updated on the latest research and best practices in the field of speech-language pathology.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions from the supervising SLP.
