Job Title: Business Segment Leader

Job Summary:

The Business Segment Leader is responsible for managing a core team of individuals focused on the customers in the Vacuum Business Segment. As the leader, the Business Segment Leader will lead, manage and hold accountable a team of project managers, estimators, manufacturing engineers, CAD operators and design engineers to meet the goals for their segment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily activities of the segment team, including assigning work for project management, estimating, manufacturing engineering, design and mechanical engineering, and CAD.
  • Set annual, monthly and weekly goals for the business segment in support of the overall company goals.
  • Set individual goals for each team member and coach and mentor them to support their professional growth and development.
  • Define the job controls, including processes, procedures, reporting, etc., to manage the team's work.
  • Review and monitor progress of individual projects to ensure milestones are being met.
  • Manage the business segment's effectiveness to ensure it meets its performance targets, including profitability, on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the company's sales leadership to establish the segment's strategy and annual goals.
  • Maintain positive relationships with existing customers and develop new customers along with sales representatives.
  • Manage risks and issues that arise over the course of various projects.
  • Prioritize competing project deliverables against the team's capacity and develop overlapping skill sets to create flexible capacity within the team's core functions.
  • Make bid/no-bid decisions for all new opportunities.
  • Maintain a schedule of all the team's work and ensure deliverables are aligned across projects.
  • Develop metrics and key performance indicators for the team, including achievement of estimated versus actual metrics, as well as capture lessons learned.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other personnel, as appropriate, to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.
  • Ensure a favorable company image is presented to customers and that all customer relationships are based on honesty and integrity.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or business management or a related field with 7-10 years of experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment. Experience with ultra-high vacuum technology, proven program management skills, solid team building and organizational skills, and competency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook, are required. Knowledge of CAD and 3D modeling tools, such as Solid Works, and ERP systems, such as Made to Manage, is preferred. PMP certification is a plus. Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills are essential.
