Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a full-time Central Sterile Supply Technician for our Operating Room. The qualified individual is responsible for preparing and assembling medical and surgical supplies, instrumentation, and equipment, maintaining the sterile processing areas and receiving and distributing surgical supplies and equipment.Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is a 45-bed hospital that has serves rural and suburban populations in Roaring Spring, Altoona, and parts of Blair, Bedford, and Huntingdon counties.

Conemaugh Health System serves more than a half-million patients each year through the Nason Physician Group, Conemaugh Physician Group and Medical Staff, a network of four hospitals, specialty clinics and patient-focused programs.Essential Functions:Follow established protocols for cleaning, decontaminating, preparing and packaging, disinfecting or sterilizing, and storing medical and surgical supplies and equipment.Distribute medical and surgical supplies from sterile processing areas to other areas within the facility or health care organization as needed.Adhere to standard precautions including the use of personal protective equipment.Follow safety procedures and manufacturers instructions when handling cleaning solutions, supplies and equipment.Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.Monitor, interpret and document results of physical, chemical and biological indicators for all types of sterilizers used in the sterile processing area.Prepare and distribute surgical instrument sets according to physicians preference cards and anticipated needs of the perioperative team.Inventory, receive, and restock materials used for supporting sterile processing services.Carry out appropriate sterilization methods, utilizing care and guidelines for use of steam, ethylene oxide and low temp sterilizers.Follow appropriate infection control techniques throughout various work stations within the department and throughout the hospital.Collect data and keep sterilization records on file.Assist with improving the quality of sterile processing services and identifying pertinent evidence to establish benchmarks as directed.Assist with identifying pertinent evidence to establish benchmarks as directed.Develop the strategic plan and processes to attain expected outcomes for sterile processing services.Organizational Expectations:Support the mission, vision and values of the professional interpersonal and communication skills.Follow and observe appropriate dress code and maintenance of traffic control.Attend departmental meetings, in-services, continuing education seminars, and submit records of attendance.Comply with organizational policies, regulatory and accreditation standards, and professional guidelines.Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health Requirements:Minimum Education:High school diploma or equivalent required.Certifications:Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) preferred or willing to obtain within 18 months of hire in Endoscope Reprocessor or willing to obtain within 18 months.Basic Life Support (BLS).Minimum Work Experience:One year of sterile processing experience preferred.Required Skills:Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
