The Hinckley Company, known for building and servicing, strong, seaworthy and beautiful yachts is seeking an Electrical/Mechanical Installer for our production facility in Trenton, Maine. The Electrical/Mechanical Installer performs electrical, mechanical and plumbing tasks for boat fabrication, utilizing various power and hand-tools. The Electrical/Mechanical Installer has the ability to install part of or combination of a system within a specialty discipline.
Essential Duties:
- Performs installation of wiring, fixtures, and equipment for electrical service, plumbing and plumbing fixtures, and engines and jets.
- Has the ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Measures and cuts wire, strips insulation from ends of wire and connects to terminal using appropriate tools.
- Secures rackets to bulkhead and pulls wires through connection boxes and switch panels.
- Connects power supply circuits to electronic equipment.
- Tests electrical characteristics: voltage, resistance, and phase angle using ohmmeters, voltmeters, and other electrical testing equipment.
- May install intake and discharge fittings to provide water for plumbing and engine cooling. Places and secures plumbing fixtures (head, sinks) and refrigeration (ice box) and applies sealant.
- Cuts holes for valves, outlets, and drives. Inserts valve and outlet fittings through hole to provide watertight fit.
- Assists in the installation and placement of engine over mount rails and secures engine to boat.
- Installs other machinery such as motors, pumps, ventilating systems, and auxiliary systems.
- Follow defined instructions and procedures in performance of tasks.
- Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain safe, clean work area.
- Vocational technical school degree/certification or High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) and one (1) year equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of hand tools (sockets and wrenches).
- Two (2) years experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift and Carry over 25 lbs. and up to 60 lbs. on a frequent* basis (over 40% and up to 70%).
- Continuous mental and visual attention is required on a constant basis.
- Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, lift, push and pull.
- Requires working under disagreeable conditions on a frequent basis where elements such as dust, dirt, heat, fumes, cold, vibration, noise, water or chemicals may be present.
