Job Description Pilot Capability Manager - Decatur, ILADM has an opening for a Pilot Capability Manager at our Corporate Research Center located in Decatur, ILThis is a salaried exempt position.Position Summary:The Pilot Capability Manager will be responsible for leading and supervising teams of engineers and scientists in a matrix environment as they develop and support new technology-based projects. The successful candidate will work across various groups including technology vendors, contractors, operations, commercial, business development and R&D. A Bachelor's or advanced degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred with a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience including stage-gated technology development project management or leadership. The ideal candidate possesses strong competency in one or more of the following areas: fermentation, catalysis, physical and molecular separations, food processing, and chemical process principles.Roles and ResponsibilitiesLead or oversee development of pilot plans for major new technology based projectsWork with R&D teams to capture and collect information for successful piloting and scale up / scale downDevelop, improve, and sustain the staff expertise required to efficiently and effectively pilot technologies and processes to support ADM's Business UnitsDevelop, improve, and sustain the capabilities to provide a robust service for piloting throughout ADM's global research community.Scale up new processes and technologiesScale down existing processes for optimization and troubleshootingEnsure piloting activities follow the FEL0 project management processReview, approve, or modify technology development plans required to execute pilot scale projectsEffectively collaborate with the project team and key partners to maintain accurate risk adjusted value proposition calculations and deliver timely updates to project leadershipProvide clear decision rights through effective supervision, mentorship, coaching, technical training, and leadership of engineers and scientists who design pilot scale processesJob Requirements:A bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or related fieldProcess scale-up/scale-down and production management experience10+ years of relevant experienceStrong leadership, budget planning and management, and experience managing new technology-based engineering projectsExperience with both traditional and agile project management is desiredExperience managing teams in a matrixed, high paced environmentA working knowledge of one or more of the following areas: fermentation, catalysis, physical and molecular separations, food processing, and chemical process principlesUnderstand concepts associated with Process IntensificationKnowledge of relevant regulatory codes (Boiler, Pressure Vessel, OSHA, etc.)Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsStrong working knowledge of oilseed and corn processing desiredExcited about this role but don't meet every requirement listed?
