As a Principal Cloud Architect, you will shape the overall strategic vision and roadmap for Cloud design and architecture within the Cloud Services organization, formulating policies, standards, and governance frameworks to ensure operational efficiency in the utilization of adaptive approaches for lifecycle models and methodologies. In this role you will lead the coordination of cross-functional engagement to collaborate on Cloud technology efforts, maintaining adherence to Cloud Security, Compliance, and Regulatory standards while driving a cultural change towards Cloud adoption. You will work closely with a team of experienced architects and senior engineers to identify and craft solutions for broad complex multi-Cloud infrastructure and application scenarios. You will be responsible for establishing and shepherding the adoption of cloud computing throughout the organization and provide on-going updates to senior leaders about the organizations progress against current plans.

The Principal Cloud Architect also leads IT transformation initiatives, systems optimization projects and provides direct influence on technology strategy and direction in the Schwab technology services organization. Additional responsibilities may include defining and creating documentation based on industry best practices tailored specifically to Schwab client needs and infrastructure or application interface scenarios. You hold the primary responsibility for defining Cloud Solutions for a legacy and greenfield Schwab systems, including patterns, products, services and applications in coordination with all stakeholders to validate technology decisions while successfully guiding teams towards execution through regular engagement.

What you have

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cyber Security, related degree OR related practical experience
7+ years of managing the integration of an organization’s technology strategy with business processes and goals to develop an effective enterprise architecture
5+ experience required as Solution Architect, Enterprise Architect, Cloud Architect or Senior Cloud Engineer
5+ years with cloud design on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
7+ years of leading the design, implementation, and ongoing support of architectural initiatives from inception to operational maintenance, with a focus on driving initiatives across teams and enterprises
7+ years managing the life cycle of software and system products and services ensuring quality, reliability, and security
7+ years developing software solutions that meet requirements incorporating predictive or adaptive design techniques
7+ years managing the deployment of software updates while ensuring compliance with safety, security, and quality standards
5+ years Implementing standards, processes, and methods to create, test, and verify software components, ensuring reliability, and resolving operational problems and bugs
5+ years driving organizational performance by continuously assessing, improving, and implementing new capabilities
5+ years of experience implementing concepts for system design, ensuring compatibility with cloud architectures, and utilizing adaptive approaches for lifecycle models and methodologies
5+ years managing and utilizing services from cloud platforms to support and improve organizational functions
5+ years strategically managing and operationalizing data pipelines and storage systems for data mining, analytics, and machine learning, prioritizing compliance, security, and scalability
5+ years optimizing methods and tools to foster efficient organization-wide processes
3+ years implementing, monitoring, and administering security controls and records to ensure a secure IT environment aligned with business requirements
3+ years utilizing code-based methods to manage and provision computing infrastructure, replacing traditional manual hardware configuration

Preferred Qualifications

Google Professional, AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solution Architect Cloud Provider Certifications
Strong understanding of various applications, servers and network security best practices
Coding proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, Salt or similar automation tools
Experience designing mission critical, 24x7 systems
Experience with Cloud Security products and following secure design principles
Experienced in the development of policy and operational processes to insure high availability and service of entire technology stack, from front-end web traffic to back-end big-data infrastructure.
Working proficiency with SCM and DevOps tool suites; examples include Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Jenkins, Concourse etc.
Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum, experience adopting or leading continuous integration and continuous delivery concepts and frameworks
Experience in the Financial Services industry
