Product Development FormulatorIcelandirect is a contract manufacturer and private label supplement company that makes high-quality premium fish oils supplements, vitamins nutritional, and fish oil emulsions in a variety of TG and EE concentrations.We are a top omega product supplier in the United States. Our products are GMP-compliant and can be produced as emulsions supplements, powders, softgels, liquid-packaged, or capsules.We deliver bulk materials orders and custom formulations. Many of our manufactured products are listed on Amazon and other high profile distribution channels.Responsibilities:Works with guidance from the Product Development (PD)/Quality Control (QC) Director to develop formulations for a variety of dosage and delivery forms (oil and water-based liquids, softgels, 2-piece capsules, powders, and granulations) that support Sales and Marketing needs. Work within PD and Operations teams to troubleshoot technical, formulation, and processing issues during product development and Commercialization.Work with Purchasing team and PD/QC Director to generate new formulations, Sourcing New/Existing raw material for Cost analysis and feasibility of formulation.
Maintain accurate project information, formulations, and specifications. Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department in development of proper documentation for new formula and product development projects.Assist with performance of QC analytical testing.Hands on proficiency with GC, HPLC, and ICP-MS.Assist in providing annual and OJT training of lab personnel.Monitor and escalate, if necessary, lab staffing, supplies and equipment needs.Work collaboratively with cross functional teams including personnel in Sales, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, and Operations on new product development and to resolve ingredient and product technical issues.Prioritize and manage multiple Projects to achieve project deadlines.Work under minimal supervision, run and monitor bench top, pilot, and manufacturing scale-up and verification batches.Responsible for the maintenance and sanitation of laboratory equipment.Manage PD project and lab activities by accurately collecting, recording, maintaining, and reporting scientific data.Perform Administrative tasks as needed.Responsible for adhering to company's rules and regulations and active SOPs and cGMPs. Responsible for maintaining of Lab raw material and consumables inventory for day-to-day project activity.Performs other related duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements:BS in Food Science, Chemistry, Nutrition/Dietetics, or related field required.2-4 years PD related experience in the dietary supplement or pharmaceutical industry.Experience in product and formula development & familiarity with natural product chemistry.Must have possess strong knowledge of ingredient and formulations costing methods.Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.Documented ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams.Strong documentation, organization, troubleshooting and time management skills.Familiarity with good manufacturing practices (GMPs) and regulations for dietary supplements (DSHEA) preferred.Working knowledge of nutritional products preferred.
