SUMMARY

The General Maintenance Worker performs a range of semi-skilled grounds maintenance responsibilities including removing and installing concrete, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, paint, and carpentry work on buildings, furniture, equipment, machines, and grounds.

JOB DUTIES
  • Performs plumbing, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, paint, and carpentry work on buildings, furniture, equipment, machines and grounds.
  • Performs repairs and preventive maintenance on roofs, furniture, equipment, machinery, appliances, and air conditioning systems.
  • Disassembles, cleans, and replaces damaged or worn parts on equipment, machinery and appliances.
  • Assists with the training and cross-training of team members to ensure competency in all departmental functions.
  • Moves office equipment and furniture as necessary.
  • Assists with designing and fabricating jigs and fixtures for use in production.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement.
  • Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Less than a year of experience in electrical, mechanical, and plumbing Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems
  • Basic construction/building skills including, removing and installing concrete, wood and metal framing, installation of drywall, plaster and working with suspended ceilings.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skillsBasic knowledge of plant and machine safety
  • Must have good math skills and the ability to work with measurements and ratios


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One year of experience in electrical, mechanical, and plumbing


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.
  • Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be able to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be able to travel, nationally and internationally, as necessary.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
