Overview:

Accelerated Learning Center, an alternative high school, is seeking a dynamic and proactive Student Mentor to join our team. This role is critical in fostering a supportive and safe learning environment by establishing meaningful relationships with students and actively engaging in their daily school life.


Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain positive, supportive relationships with students to promote a healthy educational environment.
  • Monitor student behavior on campus, intervening and addressing potential issues proactively.
  • Remain actively mobile throughout the day, connecting with students during and between class periods to ensure a safe and supportive atmosphere.
  • Serve as a substitute teacher in various classrooms as needed, providing continuity in instruction and support.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration to implement school policies and student welfare programs.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of mentoring programs that address student needs.
  • Assist in coordinating and supervising school activities and events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in mentoring, youth counseling, or a similar role, particularly within an educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to connect with a diverse student population.
  • High level of energy, flexibility, and the ability to maintain a positive presence outside for the majority of the day.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to the values and mission of an alternative educational setting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors and be on feet for prolonged periods.

  • 7:30 am 4:30 pm
