Overview:
Accelerated Learning Center, an alternative high school, is seeking a dynamic and proactive Student Mentor to join our team. This role is critical in fostering a supportive and safe learning environment by establishing meaningful relationships with students and actively engaging in their daily school life.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain positive, supportive relationships with students to promote a healthy educational environment.
- Monitor student behavior on campus, intervening and addressing potential issues proactively.
- Remain actively mobile throughout the day, connecting with students during and between class periods to ensure a safe and supportive atmosphere.
- Serve as a substitute teacher in various classrooms as needed, providing continuity in instruction and support.
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to implement school policies and student welfare programs.
- Participate in the development and implementation of mentoring programs that address student needs.
- Assist in coordinating and supervising school activities and events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in mentoring, youth counseling, or a similar role, particularly within an educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to connect with a diverse student population.
- High level of energy, flexibility, and the ability to maintain a positive presence outside for the majority of the day.
- Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Commitment to the values and mission of an alternative educational setting.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors and be on feet for prolonged periods.
Work Hours
- 7:30 am 4:30 pm
