Job Title: Exceptional Student Services Coordinator/Coach

Join our team as an Exceptional Student Services Coordinator/Coach at Yuma Elementary School District ONE. This role is responsible for providing support to the Exceptional Student Services Department to maintain compliance with state and federal mandates regarding special education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support teachers of students with disabilities through observation and coaching, providing formal and informal individual discussions and feedback.
  • Assist teachers of students with disabilities with data analysis and instructional planning.
  • Participate collaboratively as a school leader in the area of instructional improvement for students with diverse needs.
  • Develop procedures for identification, referral, evaluation, multidisciplinary conferencing, placement, and re-evaluation of students with special needs.
  • Collaborate with principals, general education teachers, parents, and ESS teachers to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Coordinate program components, support needs, and materials for the purpose of delivering services that conform to established guidelines.
  • Facilitate meetings, processes, and training for the purpose of implementing and maintaining programs and services.
  • Implement assigned programs and projects to conform to district and state curriculum and/or instructional objectives.
  • Prepare program mandated reports to ensure ongoing funding by complying with program requirements.
  • Present information on various topics to implement and maintain programs and services.
  • Research topics to provide information and/or recommendations and/or address program requirements.
  • Serve as a resource and/or mentor to ESS staff to explain procedures and convey information as needed.
  • Support site principals, ESS classroom teachers, ESS paraprofessionals, therapists, and other staff to assist in the implementation of intervention and treatment techniques.
Requirements:
  • Job-related experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a job-related area is required.
  • Designated Subject Matter Endorsement, Teaching Credential, Continuing Educ./Training Clearances, and Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance are required.
Working Environment:

The job is performed in a generally hazard-free environment and in a clean atmosphere. The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity.
