Description

This senior research role is important for the creation of a comprehensive alternative investment research offering. This position will report to the Alternative Investment Platform Manager but taking direction from the CIO’s office to ensure consistency in messaging to Advisors and their respective clients. The senior research person will be responsible for creating and maintaining the Alternative Investment research Library. The reference library will have information which supports all of the recommendations and summaries approved for distribution to Advisors and Clients.

Once the Research Platform has been built this person will be responsible for cross training other Research Professionals and new Analysts. The role will have formation, maintenance, and educating others on Alternative Investments consistent with the CIO’s initiatives. The Senior Research person will build and maintain relationships with external investment managers across several Alternative Investment strategies. On going review of each manager is a vital part of keeping the Advisors and Clients informed of material changes or modifications to the investment approach.

The senior research person will work closely with the Advisors aiding in the assessment of current Clients and prospective Clients. Reviewing and evaluating external managers will be important and time-consuming. This process will need to be created and shared with other Research professionals as soon as practical, so Advisors are more effective in obtaining new assets under management.

Responsibilities

The role will also be making presentations to Advisors on strategy and specific managers. The ability to communicate in an effective manner with a clear message of investment strategy is important for building a strong report with all of the Advisors.

 Responsible for building the Alternative Investment Research Platform with the Lead Manager

  • Responsible for creating research content consistent with the CIO’s office with clear and consistent messaging.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining external manager relationships.
  • Responsible for organizing and presenting at “teach-ins” for Advisors.
  • Responsible for remaining consistent with the CIO’s message across the Alternative Investment Strategies.
  • Collaborate and educate the rest of the Research Team on Alternative Investment Strategies
  • Present findings in the research process to the “Investment Committee” when we are considering an investment strategy or specific external manager.
  • Complete due diligence on specific external managers and present to the Investment Committee.
  • Responsible for participation in the training of new analysts in our approach strengthening the overall research platform at Clarfeld/Citizens.

 Qualifications 

  •  3-5 years minimum experience with Alternative Investments.
  • Experience researching Alternative Investment Strategies.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent client service and communication abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Series 7 & 66 (or 63 & 65) Required
  • MBA preferred.
  • CFA preferred.
  • CAIA preferred.

Hours & Work Schedule

  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Work Schedule: M-F
