About the jobAt Danone Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We have an opening for a Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist based in our Dallas, TX manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for the development and execution of programs to ensure that the Company provides a safe workplace for employees and minimizes impacts to the environment. This position will lead compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. The incumbent will implement a sustainable environmental, health and safety management system at a plant level and drive EHS performance improvement and efficiency. This position will participate in the Danone EHS Leadership Network.The incumbent is successful through strong leadership, vision, and effective management and ensure these goals in a professional atmosphere that enhances Company economic viability.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Research safety and environmental regulations and provide support for complianceParticipate in EHS compliance and management system inspectionsOversee Workers Compensation claims and work with case managers on claim management and plan of actionSupports the Plant Director or Plant EHS Manager in the development of EHS policies, standards and procedures based on regulatory and internal requirementsCollaborate and lead cross functionally on the development and integration of safety and environmental programs and capital projects to ensure timely executionLead and support improvements in safety (WISE2) and sustainability culture and performanceManage data collection and analysis of EHS metrics and reports including; injury and illness, air, waste, energy and water dataPrepare government reports and permits/certificationsServe as the plant Administrator of EHS Exchange and other data management systemsAssist with preparation of environmental government reports and permits/certificationsParticipate or lead EHS projects to support energy conservation, best practices, lean and six-sigmaChair safety committees and design and implement safety awareness programsConduct and mentor employees in behavior-based safety observations Establish and Lead emergency response & evacuation planning Lead and train others on job safety analysis and risk assessmentsCreate and deliver EHS training programs. Serve as a Train the Trainer Assist with management of EHS recordkeepingLead creation and deployment ofsite level EHS communicationsSupport Workers Compensation claims and work with case managers on claim management and plan of actionCollaborates with plant leadership relative to light duty opportunities and/or modified work, if available
About youPreferred Candidate Qualifications:Education and Experience:Bachelors or Masters in Safety Environmental Health, Chemistry, or related field Must be knowledgeable with OSHA and EPA regulationsMust be knowledgeable with California regulatory requirements Must have 5 -10 years of EHS experience in industryKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Strong verbal and written communication skills.Exceptional leadership skills and ability to mentor and motivate (a real passion for EHS)Team player is a mustServes as a change agent to drive process improvements and cultural changeCreates alignmentMust be adaptable and flexibleAbility to handle conflict and de-escalation Works well under pressure, effectively handles conflict, strict deadlines, and multiple tasksAbility to assess and implement EHS best practicesExcellent organization, recordkeeping, and documentation skillsSolid computer skills are essential Strong organization and time management skillsManagement of multiple projects and initiatives simultaneouslyInterface closely with all levels of the plant and Corporate EHS Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and in meeting tight deadlines.Ability to remain flexible to support plant safety needs and EHS priorities. Ability to remain positive and contribute solutions and ideas. Ability to practice diplomacy, compassion, and respect. Strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills.
