Principal Risk Associate, Data Management

As a Principal Associate on Capital One’s Enterprise Services Divisional Data Risk Officer (ES DDRO) - Data Management team, you will apply your project management, risk management, data management, and analytical skills to ensure data management operations are executed effectively, and data management risk is mitigated. You will work with data producers and consumers, technical teams, product teams, and risk guides to develop and implement data management practices and risk solutions to ensure Capital One’s data is well-managed in adhering to policies and standards governing data management to mitigate financial, operational, reputational or regulatory impacts.
Principal Associates partner with leaders and their teams to identify and address potential data risks, process and operational improvement opportunities, and automation improvements in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded.
Enterprise Services DDRO Cyber Risk & Analysis professionals are highly motivated with excellent project management and communication skills and are the first line of defense to help ensure Enterprise Services remains well-managed with respect to data management risk. They have a high level of exposure across multiple Lines of Business and the opportunity to work with leaders to create and implement innovative solutions to drive improvements and mitigate potential risks to the Company.
Responsibilities:
This role supports the ES DDRO team. Specifically, this role will:
Design and Execute ES Data Management Shared Controls
Mature Control Suite Effectiveness rating in accordance with Enterprise Data Risk Management (EDRM) policy requirements
Execute, monitor, analyze, and report on the Data Management Health and Governance risk metrics across ES and LOB’s under DDRO purview
Proactively identify process and automation improvements for Data Management practices
Partner with EDRM to implement ongoing updates to policy requirements, expand Data Management practices, and adjust related processes and metrics reporting
Collaborate effectively across multiple organizations and roles including LOB data SMEs, technical teams, Business Risk Offices, Audit, and Second Line Risk Management
Support key program initiatives as Capital One continues data transformation in new Cloud-based platforms and solutions
Lead and execute specific operational initiatives and projects as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or military experience
At least 2 years of Technology experience in software engineering or data analytics
At least 2 years of Project Management experience
At least 2 years of Risk Management experience
At least 2 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years of Risk Management experience
5 years of Project Management experience leading cross functional projects and programs in Risk
5 years of Technology experience
2 years of Data Management experience
2 years of experience with EDM processes and tools
PMP Certification or Masters Certificate of Project Management (CPM)
Lean/Six Sigma Process Certification
Strong relationship building skills, customer focus and ability to collaborate across teams to deliver
Strong communication (written and verbal), and ability to execute autonomously and balance work priorities
Tools: Google office suite, JIRA/Confluence, Visio or other process modeling
