Position summary

T-Mobile is America's supercharged Un-carrier, delivering an advanced 4G LTE and transformative nationwide 5G network that will offer reliable connectivity for all. Managers, Product & Engineering located in Atlanta, GA will recruit, hire, mentor, and lead a talented team of software, product, and delivery professionals, helping to build new order management capabilities that are strategic to our customer experience and the business.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Build, develop, and manage a team of Software Engineers who will establish, build, and maintain a digital order management environment.
  • Identify areas of improvement in development processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Build relationships across ETS and Marketing domains and manage a large team of over 7 full-time employees and over 40 vendor contractors.
  • Build and refine process runbooks for the product team that can be used as a template.
  • Work with multiple stakeholders to understand project and business priorities and schedule work with development staff based on those priorities.
  • Evaluate work effort status and resource utilization and implement changes to improve the team's effectiveness.
  • Present information on projects, initiatives, and other subjects to peers, teams, and higher management.
  • Provide ongoing reconciliation between long-term goals and short-term actions.
  • Manage a team of Engineers by providing appropriate direction, delivering timely developmental feedback and coaching, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Manage interviews and hire qualified team members, augmenting the team with contract staff when required.
  • Support the team by creating training and career development plans and ensure assignments with increasing levels of responsibility are given to staff.
  • Oversee technical relationships with multiple assigned vendors, including driving features and function requests for inclusion in future product releases.
  • Communicate, influence, and sell ideas at the director level.
  • Manage a team using Agile methodologies like SAFE, SCRUM, or Kanban and Agile tools like JiraAlign and Jira.
  • Conduct reviews on deliverables from the team including solution design, impact assessments, operational readiness, test cases, and deployment plans.
  • Telecommuting is permitted, but applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance.


Skill requirements:

  • (1) Conducting API design and management of Enterprise Architecture components including WSDL for SOAP interfaces, Swagger/JSON files for REST API interfaces, XSDs for TIBCO EMS and TIBCO BE asynchronous interfaces, and low-level technical Architecture design documents including data mapping sheets with XPATHs and interface specifications;
  • (2) Designing and building 'Narrowband and Broadband Telecom Provisioning System' for a major US carrier, including expertise on Ensemble Amdocs billing system;
  • (3) Utilizing modeling techniques and tools like UML, BPEL, MS Visio, XMind, and Sparx EA to create design artifacts;
  • (4) Working with relational databases like Oracle, Microsoft SQL server, and NoSQL databases like Cassandra;
  • (5) Identifying and resolving development issues, including working with a team and business executives to seek solutions within defined processes; and
  • (6) Conducting development, release and deployment, organizational change, knowledge management, and operations, as well as conducting financial forecasting and running budgets.


Experience and education requirements:

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Computer Science and Engineering or related field, or its foreign equivalent, and 3 years of relevant work experience.

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering or related field, or its foreign equivalent, and 5 years of relevant work experience.

Candidate's pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience. At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
