Our portfolio of national and super-regional brands and licensed products includes Hood, Heluva Good, Lactaid, Blue Diamond Almond Breeze, Planet Oat and more.For candidates based in NY this position typically pays between $123,000 - $138,000 annually.Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:30 am - 3:30 pm; with overtime and weekend on-call coverage as needed.Job Summary:Directs and coordinates activities of employees and external vendors engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in maintenance of buildings, grounds and systems by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Responsible for the overall plant and warehouse capital plan including the development of projects, timelines, contractor sourcing, etc.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans, organizes, delegates, coaches, develops, and leads employee performance on an individual and team basis. Responsible to develop the plant and warehouse annual capital project plan.
Including a 3 outlook for projects that include capacity, growth, replacement, safety and quality. Lead the plant and warehouse capital projects along with the development of capital expenditure requests, (CERs) including submission, review and approval/disapproval. Project administration - Lead the initial Project development, determine project roles and responsibilities, goal setting, cost review, work breakdown structure, resources plan.
Project administration – Manage the CER execution and closure including cost estimating, schedule tracking, decision making, project performance tracking.
Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations. Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products. Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, natural gas, or compressed air and water required for operations. Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards. Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials. Prepares department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget. Assist facility in project management and capital planning process along with the development of capital expenditure requests. Coordinate Plant regulatory and environmental requirements related to utility usage and wastewater treatment. Use sound engineering practices to improve plant operations, support product quality initiatives, to reduce operating costs and to support production and maintenance groups in finding and resolving root cause issues. Lead projects including HVAC, heat transfer, processing, electrical, mechanical, and packaging equipment that encompass equipment layout and plant design and building expansion.
Develop and implement process controls solutions including advanced control concepts. Apply statistical process controls methods to improve performance and reduce costs of goods of the company’s manufacturing activities. Maintains relationship with town departments including, DPW, Planning, Conservation and Emergency Management. Attends town meetings as needed.
Education and Experience:
BS, ME, EE or PE or equivalent work experience, plus 5 years’ experience in a high-volume manufacturing plant, preferably food or beverage. Engineering responsibility and preventive Maintenance in a large facility. Capital budgeting and planning experience. Must have managed other engineering functions such as project, process, and packaging in a team environment. Familiar with systems and infrastructure upgrades and maintenance. Preferred PSM for Ammonia Refrigeration Systems
Skills and Competencies:
Strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication, blue print reading, AutoCAD, organizational skills, strong problem solving/critical thinking skills are required. Must have ability to work independently and be very efficient. Ability to supervise contractors and employees who design and develop projects, systems and processes. Responsible for ensuring the technical accuracy of their work and the reliability of their methods.
Knowledge about building and construction materials, physics, design and mathematics, as well as practical applications of engineering science and technology.
Knowledge of public safety and security policies and procedures that are to be applied to promote safe operations for the protection of people, data and property. Support SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining work area in a sanitary manner. Proficient in MS Office suite including project management.
