The Occupational Health Specialist will provide comprehensivehealth, wellness and safety services to the employee population in accordancewith all applicable company policies, government regulations, and best practiceguidelines. In all areas of practice, the Occupational Health Specialist will actas a resource and an advocate for both employee and company to encouragethe attainment of optimal health and well-being within the corporation.1.Implements Medical Department operations - including but not limited to thefollowing:Conducting assessment, treatment, referral and recording of occupational and emergent non-occupational injuries/illnessesPerform medical surveillance and licensing exams, such as pre-employment, fitness for duty, powered industrial equipment, DOT physicals and OSHA required exams.Administering the policies of the occupational medical program consistent with the company's general policies concerning health services.Utilizing the necessary equipment and supplies necessary to achieve the objectives of the Medical Department and operate within budget guidelines.Administering the plant's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.Partnering with professional health resources and department supervision to place injured workers into modified/light duty assignments which meet their physical capabilities and promote rehabilitation.Interacting with on-site and community physicians, nurses and physical therapists to promote employee health and wellness.2. Stay updated on knowledge of federal, state and local laws/regulations andother best practices applicable to occupational health. Maintains all requiredprofessional licensure and certifications.3. Collaborates with Safety Team and Risk Management by participating inGlobal Safety & Health Audit process and instructing employees in ergonomicand safety education.4. Implements company provided wellness programs and, additionally,employee health and wellness programs addressing the unique health risksand demographics of the site.5. Engages and directs users to appropriate CSC resources, such as theEmployee Assistance Program, Medical Decision Support and HealthworksProgram through company promotions, group education, individualconsultations and/or referrals.6. Demonstrates high ethical standards and sustains positive employeerelations by inspiring trust, providing high caliber medical treatment andcounsel and maintaining strict confidentiality.Demonstrates the ability to set priorities and multitask while performing the duties of the Medical Department.Uses knowledge of Workers' Compensation regulations, case management skills and the PIM process to ensure patient understanding and compliance, reduce recovery time, and improve the employee's recovery and return to work outcome.Shows the ability to successfully build and maintain productive relationships with Third Party providers through open communication and professional discourse.Draws upon regulatory knowledge to ensure program compliance with all OSHA and safety standards through effective training, recordkeeping, and utilization of resources.Utilizes medical skills to manage stressful situations through effective communication, accurate assessment, and the provision/recommendation of appropriate care.Experience:Required Experience:LPN, Paramedic or EMT certificationHigh school degree or GEDPreferred Experience:Associate's degreeAHA or Red Cross CPR/AED certification preferred.Experience practicing within an occupational health or emergency room settingpreferred.Strong written and oral communication skills.Sound judgment and ability to manage crisis situations.Knowledge of state Worker's Compensation law, OSHA requirements andother occupational health regulations preferred.Additional certification in areas such as spirometry, audiometry and/or drug testcollection may be required.Computer proficiency in Word and Excel.Compensation and Benefits:The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between$48,700-$70,000Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
