PLANT ENGINEER  General Summary: JBS Pork is looking for a Plant Engineer to manage the plants maintenance department in Louisville, Kentucky. This role will manage a team of about 100 people and be a part of our senior management team. The ideal candidate will be driven and motivated individual that thrives on supporting a busy, fast-paced team.  Responsibilities:        Manage training programs to maintain the skill level of hourly and salaried workforce        Typically requires extended hoursMotivate interest in and ensure compliance with stringent plant safety programs Maintaining high levels of labor efficiency and effectiveness in response to breakdowns and plant interruptions Actively involve maintenance personnel in HAACP reviews and ensure their expertise is used to improve food safety where applicableMaintain close communications with operations and other plant departments and develop an appreciation for overall plant performance issues in all employees within the department Assist the Plant Manager in assuring continuous plant improvement Ensure reliable and cost-effective operation of utility systems that are on line continuously (Including steam generation, ammonia refrigeration, air compression, electrical distribution, and others) Develop capital investment ideas that support overall plant profitability and develop and maintain the organizational capability to accomplish these projectsDevelop and maintain contractors and vendors to supplement plant resources. Represent the corporation in dealing with these outside firms. Evaluate the performance of foreman and supervisors; take corrective or remedial action as neededRepresent the entire plant's needs and point of view in discussions with corporate engineering, regarding technical standards, project scope development and accomplishmentManage the maintenance parts room for the best economic advantage of all departments in the plantDevelop and grow a trusting relationship with the USDA / JBS Sanitation to ensure that their requirements are being met Participate in the negotiation of and the administration of the union contract so that all management personnel interpret it fairly and consistently throughout the plantDevelop effective cost cutting strategies to meet budget goals       Other duties as assigned   Qualifications:  Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or 5 additional years of relevant experience       Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible positions within industrial maintenance        Minimum of 5 years within a food processing industryExtensive background in ammonia refrigeration, steam generation, air compressor technology, chain drives, all types of conveying systems, variable frequency motor controls, maintenance of sanitary conditions        Excellent written and verbal communication skills       Must be able to demonstrate effective people skills        Basic computer skills and proficiency with basic office software (Microsoft Word and Excel) Management skills such as maintenance and utilities superintendents (3-5) through whom 100-150 people report        Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations.
