Position: Patient Care Associate-PCADepartment: MS PedsShift: Full Time Nights, 36hrs a week, 6p-6:30aFT Nights Bonus: $5000- $1250 at 90 days, $1250 at 6 months, $2500 at 1 yearAbout our Medical Surgical-Adult/Peds:We are a high energy, fast paced 30 bed Medical/Surgical/Adult & Pediatric unit that cares for medical and post operative patients. These patients are primarily adults 18 years and older. However, we also care for approximately 1-2 pediatric patients per month. Our patient population consists of but not limited to post op knees, hips, shoulders, colon resections, bariatric surgery, sepsis, pancreatitis, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and stable pneumothorax. Our nurse to patient ratio is 1:6 with the assistance Patient Care Associates. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.Qualifications:Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, CNA/CPTC. or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum, and/or a current co-worker of Mercy.Experience: None requiredIn the state of Missouri: If no previous experience, Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program will be completed as part of the new hire orientation process and must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position per state guidelines.Certifications: BLS Required within one month of hire, completion of PCA competencies within 3 months of hire.Other:Minimum Physical Requirements:Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basisPosition requires prolonged standing and walking each shiftPosition requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform dutiesPreferred Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
