Chief Information Security Officer Job Overview
The CISO is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and reporting on information security risks in a manner that meets compliance and regulatory requirements, and aligns with and supports the risk posture of the enterprise. He/she will proactively work with business units and IT functional areas to implement practices that meet defined policies and standards for information security.
The CISO serves as the process owner of all assurance activities related to the availability, integrity and confidentiality of patient, employee and corporate information in compliance with the organization’s information security policies. A key element of this role is working with executive management to determine acceptable levels of risk for the organization. He/she must be highly knowledgeable about the business environment and ensure that information systems are maintained in a fully functional, secure mode. Additionally, the CISO will serve as an internal consultant to organizational leadership regarding cybersecurity awareness and education.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 4 years in a CISO/Director level role providing strategic leadership and operation oversight for an enterprise information security management program
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified CISO (CCISO)
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Payment Card Industry/ Data Security Standard (PCI) , IT security and SOC.
  • Demonstrated expertise in maturing security awareness and audits.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or other similar credentials
