Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) Architect Location: Alpharetta, GA ASAP & 6-12 months (could extend/convert) Business Objectives & Key Project Details
  • Building out their Google Cloud Platform environment
  • ~10 months into it
  • Built and ingesting data now pipelines are there, but don't have their DevOps environment
  • Building that second layer now
  • Need to operationalize and make it consumable
  • Take Google's reference architecture and go from there
  • How to integrate things into their environment scalable, best practices
  • Security components around everything
  • Thinking 360 degrees around how things should be architected
  • Building the airplane as they're flying
  • Have a cloud team with technical resources that are learning Google Cloud Platform good at designing things and doing a good job, but missing that Architect level
  • Have ideas on designing things, but don't have the pen-to-paper abilities
  • If we have an idea to deploy something, what's the best way to do it?
  • Entering Pi 4 for enablement don't necessarily need to understand all the foundational stuff (pretty standard), will need this person at least through Pi 5 at least
Required Skills: This needs a top-tier candidate not a "maybe" or "good enough" candidate.

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in building and optimizing our Google Cloud Platform environment, ensuring it is scalable, secure, and aligned with best practices. This role involves working closely with our cloud team to operationalize and make our Google Cloud Platform environment consumable, integrating Google's reference architecture into our systems. Key Responsibilities:
  • Google Cloud Platform Environment Development: Lead the ongoing development and optimization of our Google Cloud Platform environment, which is currently 10 months into its build-out phase.
  • Data Ingestion and Pipelines: Oversee the existing data ingestion processes and pipelines, ensuring they are efficient and reliable.
  • DevOps Environment: Design and implement a robust DevOps environment to support our Google Cloud Platform infrastructure.
  • Operationalization: Make the Google Cloud Platform environment consumable for various stakeholders by operationalizing the infrastructure and ensuring ease of use.
  • Reference Architecture Integration: Utilize Google's reference architecture to guide the integration of new components into our environment, ensuring scalability and adherence to best practices.
  • Security: Implement and manage security components across the Google Cloud Platform environment, ensuring comprehensive protection of data and resources.
  • Architectural Vision: Provide a 360-degree perspective on how systems should be architected, considering all aspects of the infrastructure.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with our cloud team, which consists of technical resources proficient in Google Cloud Platform, to bridge the gap between design ideas and practical implementation.
  • Best Practices: Develop and enforce best practices for deploying and managing Google Cloud Platform resources.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Google Cloud Platform Architect or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of Google Cloud Platform services and architecture.
  • Experience with data ingestion and pipeline management.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing DevOps environments.
  • Knowledge of Google's reference architecture and best practices.
  • Strong security acumen with experience in implementing security measures in cloud environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
Preferred Skills:
  • Certification in Google Cloud Platform (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect).
  • Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
